Pup Pack Rush — how to play and tips

Pup Pack Rush is a friendly runner game for your phone or computer. You lead a growing pack of puppies down a park path. Along the way you pass through maths gates, dodge silly hazards, and finish with a tug-of-war against the champion poodle at the Dog Show. Everything is original cartoon art, there is nothing scary in it, and a full level takes about a minute.

How to play

• Steer: drag your finger left and right anywhere on the screen. On a computer, drag with the mouse or use the A and D keys or the arrow keys. The pack runs forward by itself.

• Pick a gate: each row has two or three gates side by side, and your pack passes through the one it touches. A green gate adds puppies, a blue gate multiplies them, a red gate takes some away, and a purple question mark is a surprise that is usually, but not always, good.

• Dodge hazards: traffic cones, rolling skateboards and spinning sprinklers cost you a few puppies. A red mark on the ground warns you before you reach them.

• Collect bones for coins, and grab puppy crates for five extra pups.

• Win the Dog Show: at the end of the path your pack pulls on a rope against the poodle champion. Tap quickly to fill the boost meter and pull harder.

• Treat tower and wheel: a big pack climbs higher stairs for a bigger coin multiplier, and then you get a bonus spin of the treat wheel.

The best choice is not always the biggest number

Each row is built so that at least one gate is safe, but the most tempting number is not always the best one. If you have 5 puppies, a ×3 gate gives 15, while a +20 gate gives 25. If you have 50 puppies, the same two gates give 150 and 70. Doing that quick sum in your head is the whole game. Red gates are traps, but sometimes the other lanes lead straight into a hazard, so you also have to think about where you will be standing next.

Levels and difficulty

The first levels only have adding and multiplying gates, with two lanes, to let you learn. From level 4 you meet subtracting and dividing gates and a third lane, from level 6 sprinklers appear, and from level 10 mystery gates are added. Levels get longer, and the boss at the end gets stronger, with a bigger Mega Boss every fifth level. Every level is generated from its number, so level 12 is the same puzzle for everyone, which makes it easy to compare with friends. If you fail the same level three times in a row, the next attempt quietly gives you a few extra puppies.

Tips

• Early on, a small safe add can beat a multiplier that sits right next to a hazard.

• Move to your next gate early, because the pack takes a moment to slide across.

• Streaks of good gates light up a golden glow under your pack and earn a combo bonus text.

• Do not worry about collecting every bone. A bigger pack makes the tug-of-war and the tower much easier.

• Tap fast at the Dog Show. The boost meter adds up to thirty per cent extra pulling power.

Play it anywhere

The game is made with the browser's own graphics and sound, so there is nothing to download, and it works on any phone, tablet or computer. Sound is made as you play, and you can switch sound and vibration off in the menu. Your coins and your level are saved on your own device. Pup Pack Rush is free, has no pop-ups inside the game, and is suitable for the whole family.
