Metro Dash is an original 3D endless runner set on a fictional city metro line, rendered entirely in real-time 3D rather than flat sprites. You control a runner sprinting down a three-lane track alongside the rails, and the game's only real objective is to keep that runner alive for as long as possible while the city, the trains, and the obstacles scroll past at increasing speed. There is no level list and no ending screen you're working toward — every run is a single unbroken sprint that ends the moment you clip an obstacle or step into the path of a train, and the game logs your distance and score the instant that happens.
On desktop, use the arrow keys or A/D to switch between the three lanes, Up or W to jump, and Down or S to slide. On mobile, swipe left or right to change lanes, swipe up to jump and down to slide, or use the on-screen directional pad if you prefer fixed buttons. Jumping clears low barriers and gaps, while sliding takes you under overhead gates and the low contact-wire drops that appear over each lane — using the wrong move for a given obstacle is what ends most runs. Pressing P or Escape pauses the run at any point, and the speaker icon in both the start screen and the pause menu toggles sound on and off.
Lane changes are instant inputs but the runner's model visually leans and slides into the new lane rather than teleporting, so plan your move a beat before you need it rather than at the very last frame. You can only jump or slide when you're not already mid-air or mid-slide, so chaining a jump directly into a slide isn't possible — you have to land first.
Your score increases continuously as you cover distance, plus a flat bonus every time you pick up a coin. Behind the scenes, difficulty is tied directly to how far you've travelled: your speed rises steadily from a base pace up toward a much faster maximum as your distance approaches the difficulty target, so the run keeps accelerating the longer you survive rather than jumping in sudden steps. Obstacle spawns get denser and more likely to block two lanes at once as that difficulty ramp climbs, and moving trains — as opposed to stationary ones parked in a lane — become noticeably more common the further you get. There's no fixed finish line; the run simply keeps getting faster and busier until you make a mistake.
Trains are the signature hazard of Metro Dash and are handled differently from ordinary obstacles: before one arrives, the game gives you an audible warning tone and a visual cue — flashing lights and a crossing gantry — over the lane it's about to occupy. Some trains sit still like a large obstacle you simply need to avoid the lane of; others are moving trains that sweep through at real speed, which are faster to react to and considerably more dangerous if you're caught in their lane. Reading the warning cue the moment it appears, rather than waiting to see the train itself, is the single biggest factor in surviving the later stretches of a run once trains start appearing more frequently.
Trains announce themselves with warning lights and a crossing gantry before they arrive — use that window to pick your lane early rather than reacting at the last second when speed is already high. Coins tend to spawn in short runs along a single lane, so once you commit to grabbing one, staying in that lane through the whole run is usually faster and safer than weaving in and out for a couple of extra coins. Because your speed is tied purely to distance, there's no benefit to rushing recklessly early on — the run gets fast enough on its own, and surviving the slower opening stretch cleanly sets you up for the harder pace later. Your best distance and score are saved locally on your device, so the real long-term goal is beating your own previous run rather than chasing any external leaderboard.
Metro Dash runs the same 3D scene and difficulty curve on both platforms, so nothing about the challenge changes based on how you play — only the input method does. On a keyboard, the arrow keys or WASD give you fast, precise lane and jump/slide input, which suits players who like to react at the last possible moment. On a touchscreen, swipe gestures feel more natural for continuous play, while the on-screen directional pad gives you fixed touch targets if you find swipes occasionally misread on a smaller screen. The game also has a fullscreen toggle in the in-game HUD, which is worth using on mobile in particular since it removes the browser chrome and gives you a full, unobstructed view of the oncoming lanes.
